Hi all- I hope you had a great day. It was nice to see you this morning. I know you are excited to get back to teaching students. The work each of you has done is incredible. Thank you for sharing it. I am so impressed. I wanted to clarify a few things about the suggested schedule. The word "suggested" is for students. I apologize if that was not clear to everyone. You should have your new content ready for the designated time of your class each day. Teachers should only schedule student instructional meetings during their class period and cannot combine class sections. Those students should be attending to their other classes at that time. Similarly to when we are in school. you can offer additional meeting times or extra help but please make sure it is outside of the scheduled school time (after 1pm). Those meetings can be in addition to what you offer during the schedule, not in place of.  Let me know if you have questions. You do not need to use the calendar anymore to sh...

Good evening all- Here is an invitation for tomorrow's meeting. It is optional and I think I have record figured out. I will look to change future times now that we are starting a regular schedule. I look forward to seeing many of you. It was nice to see many of you today, if only to be able to acknowledge what we are all feeling...nervous, unsure, etc. But we are in it together and will figure it out together.  I have been inundated with questions about what Remote Learning will look like. Please drop your questions here so I can have them all in one place.  Thanks! Kelley St Coeur is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting. Good afternoon- Once again it was wonderful to see some of your faces at the Off Site meeting. Grateful for that opportunity! If it was regular night I would be sitting in heavy traffic on 128 and the Pike on our way to the AEFI Gala. I'm sad to miss it but not sad to miss the traffic. Instead I am home listening to (and participating when songs like the YMCA are on) my daughter's dance party hosted by her teacher on Zoom. The buildings are closed. No one should enter the building without permission from the Superintendent. Hours are varied and you may find yourself setting off the alarm. But more important than that is respecting the work of the people who have to be in the buildings on certain days. Custodians are working hard to keep the kitchen area clean after meals are distributed as well as making sure they have checked and secured the building. They have been cleaning and sanitizing and if they don't know you are there they can not sanitize your area. We need to re...

March 25, 2020

Well, wow, not much to say other than I am thinking of you and am grateful for all you have been doing to reach out to kids over the past few days. I know we are all feeling nervous about how this is going to look. Hang in there, we are learning together and you are a group that pulls together to support students when times are tough. By now I am sure you have seen the news that we are out until May 4. Every day gets a little more surreal. Please take a minute to respond to this survey when you have a chance. I am trying to collect information on how successful you have been in connecting with students. I encourage you to keep reaching out to students, letting them know you are there, even if it's just to check in. Thanks for keeping me in the loop on what you are e-mailing students and for inviting me to your class and department meetings. It has been great to see you and the kids. Today we had over 80 sophomores join the class meeting. Thanks to the faculty who have been jumping...

March 24, 2020

Good evening all- I hope you are doing well and keeping busy. I was delighted to spend time with the StuCo Board and Mr. Wiczer this morning and the junior class this afternoon. They were a quiet bunch but similarly to the senior class about 60 of them showed up to talk...or listen to me and the other teachers on the call. They also brought up a concern that teachers are scheduling meeting times that overlap each other. I think we will have to start thinking about what a schedule will look like and I appreciate those of you that have started posting in the Master Calendar Linda created and shared with you. (shout out to Linda!) Feel free to let me know if you are sharing things that can be posted on the website. I learned today that the Google classroom links I shared actually just open to window of all of the Google Classrooms I am a member of. I will just leave a note on the site that parents who would like access to a site can ask you directly. Stay positive and let me know what you...

Good evening- It was really wonderful to connect with you all this morning. And equally as awesome to see members of the senior class this afternoon. We had a little over 60 people on the senior class meeting Zoom. I feel so awful for them. I will share student questions and comments and you can feel free to join us. One thing they brought up today was it would be helpful to get Zoom links at least the day before they are scheduled. They said in some cases they received the invitation on the morning of and then missed it. We talked about this being a learning curve for all of us! Attached are some of the questions the Class of 2020 asked and generally how they were answered. Class of 2020 questions/answers We'll hopefully see lots of members of the junior class tomorrow. Thanks to all of you who have sent me links to the Google Hangouts and Zoom sessions you are hosting. I would love to join in classes so keep them coming! Stay safe and healthy! Here is the email sent by Jen Cutler...

March 19, 2020

Good evening all- Today was a hard day. Seeing students come to collect books, packets, lacrosse sticks (lots of lacrosse sticks) was hard. I am so sad for these kids. But I am so grateful for all you have done. The kids were grateful too. I heard it in the "really, this whole thing is one packet?" comments. :)  In all truth, they were all appreciative, probably a little shocked and unsure, and in many cases it was parents who came to collect materials, nervous to have their children come out. I spent the afternoon collating the information you have all shared about your enrichment activities. The goal is to post everything on one place to help parents navigate what they need to know. More of  a need at younger grades perhaps, but our parents want to know what kids are assigned so they can encourage and support. You all have done such amazing work in such a short period of time. Thank you!  Please keep reaching out to me, Erin, Brian, and Stephen for anything you need. We...

March 18, 2020

Good evening everyone- When I left the building today I was overwhelmed looking at the table of resources waiting for tomorrow morning. The offers of assistance and other ways to support students have also continues to blow me away. Thank you! You always go above and beyond to support students and I am so lucky to work with teachers who care so much for their students.  I plan to reach out to you more often than weekly as we start this process. As we figure this out together please don't hesitate to reach out with your questions and concerns. It's important that we keep in contact to support each other through this craziness.  Thanks for sharing your communication with students and formats for sharing information. This will help me answer questions as the come up and we will be working to put all information in one common document for parents. Several have already reached out to say while they are trying to promote independence they also want to monitor and encourage their stu...

March 17, 2020

Good afternoon- It was truly so nice to see many of you today. This is a crazy and stressful time. Seeing you all pull together as departments and colleagues to support students has been wonderful to watch. It's hard to imagine how this will all progress but if we keep working together as a team we can help each other and our students through it. Please know that Erin, Brian, Stephen and I are here for support and to be an ear. I want to thank Chaz for the work he has done as well. Building access - Many asked today when they will be able to get back in the building. AHS will be closed after Thursday's scheduled times for students until further notice. If you have plants or pets you are concerned about please make a plan. The building will open at 8am and will close at 2:00pm Wednesday and by noon on Thursday. If you need to come by because you forgot something please do, just practice social distancing. Scheduling for the 2020-2021 school year- Counselors are still moving fo...

March 15, 2020

Good evening all- I hope you are all well with the minute by minute changes happening around us. I don't have a lot to share at this time as the situation with the building and events is in flux.  The building will be closed until further notice. If you need to access to materials please let me know and we can figure something out. Stay healthy and enjoy this time with your family. Check on your friends and neighbors who may need assistance. More information on the AHS plan will come tomorrow.
