Good evening everyone-
When I left the building today I was overwhelmed looking at the table of resources waiting for tomorrow morning. The offers of assistance and other ways to support students have also continues to blow me away. Thank you! You always go above and beyond to support students and I am so lucky to work with teachers who care so much for their students.
I plan to reach out to you more often than weekly as we start this process. As we figure this out together please don't hesitate to reach out with your questions and concerns. It's important that we keep in contact to support each other through this craziness.
- Thanks for sharing your communication with students and formats for sharing information. This will help me answer questions as the come up and we will be working to put all information in one common document for parents. Several have already reached out to say while they are trying to promote independence they also want to monitor and encourage their students who may not be as self-motivated. If you use Google Classroom you may want to consider sharing the code with parents (I think that's how it works?)
- Please make sure you are checking email daily so that you are aware of any important updates, as well as staying in contact with your students and families.
- Erin. Brian, and I are here to help with any communication needs that may be a challenge. CC us if a parent or student is questioning you or you just feel the need for support.
- We have access to Zoom for digital Face To Face meetings. (see Chad's shared instructions in his email and below!) If you would need any help setting it up or want any of us to join a class, department meeting, student conference or anything else, just ask!
- Erin, Brian, Stephen and I plan to schedule times to connect with students through Zoom. We'll send links to you in case you want to join us as well.
Again, I am blown away but what you have accomplished in a short time and your willingness to collaborate and support each other. This is unchartered territory and I am proud to be working with all of you as we navigate it.
Here's Chad's email about setting up Zoom! Thanks Chad!!!
I put together this document very quickly to help people setup Zoom access. Accounts are not required to join meetings, but they are if you want to set up meetings. I have not fully tested all versions of Zoom and the setup process, but this should work. If you decide you want to use Zoom, which can host up to 100 people at once, please let me know if you have any issues. If you are already quite familiar with Zoom and are willing to share your expertise, please do so. I am not an expert, but have some experience.
If you see any grammatical errors (or technical ones) and want to let me know, please do! I will be sharing this document with all of my AP students.
Please let me know if I can be of any support to your technology needs during this time.
Chad
