Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there. I hope you enjoyed your day. We have a faculty meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 14. I will share expectations in the next two days.  Thanks to all of you who helped with prom Friday night. It was a fun evening with the kids. Don't forget the coffee truck will be here today. The order sheet is  attached here  so you can be prepared. If you have class when the truck is here, we will get your order to you. Drop it by the office this morning or have it ready when someone comes by your class.  This article on the hacky sack craze made me smile on Friday. It has been great to see the kids enjoying each other with some old-school fun.  AP tests continue this week. Please check your emails from Kelli if you have any questions about administration.  Have a wonderful week!

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Check out this article for some freebies this week. We are grateful to the PTO for planning some treats throughout the week (and into next week!). Lunch will be provided in the teacher's cafeteria on Thursday, May 7. There will be Marathon Deli wraps and dessert from Yummy Mummy, along with gluten-free options.  Snacks will be set up in the main office throughout the week. The coffee truck will be here on Monday, May 11, around 9:30am. The order sheet is attached here  so you can be prepared. If you have class when the truck is here, we will get your order to you. Drop it by the office in the morning or have it ready when someone comes by your class.  Please take a few minutes to review the AP reminders Kelli sent out. Make sure your students understand where to be for their exam.  Friday, May 8, is an Early Release Day. Most will continue to work on PowerSchool modules. After my Train-the-Trainer sessions, I am really excited about ...

Welcome back- I hope you had a wonderful break.  A huge shout-out to our AHS custodians and facilities team, who spent the week deep-cleaning the student bathrooms and clearing the pipes. I hope students come back from break refreshed and ready to be respectful of school policy. Please continue to use eHallPass whenever a student leaves the room. A pass limit will set for all students, with a maximum number of passes per day, over the course of the week. Students will medical notes will be excused from the limit. We will have 3 of the 4 restrooms open this week to see how it goes. Math will be staying closed since the upstairs area is still an issue. We will keep only two open during the lunch block. Let us know if you have questions, and thank you so much for the consistency with passes.  I will be in PowerSchool training again this week on Monday, Thursday, and Friday from 9am-12pm and on Wednesday from 9am-4pm.  Tuesday is the annual 5-Town Special Olympics. Athletes f...

Happy Monday (before April vacation!)- You have made it through the long stretch. Thank you for all you have done to support students and our building, especially recently.  It has meant a lot to have all of you play a role in encouraging students to follow building expectations, particularly in the restrooms. There is still work to do with the boys, and we have very little to go on regarding who might be making the messes. Please keep using the eHallPass consistently. You are all very appreciated.  Grades are due by Wednesday morning at 8am. Please remember that students should have a minimum grade of 50, unless you have had a conversation with their Dean. I will be online for PowerSchool training Monday through Friday this week from 9 am - 12 pm.  I attended a webinar last week with Angela Duckworth (author of Grit). She shared some results from a project she is working on about phones and students. She is asking educators to take a quick survey to further the research....

Good morning- I hope everyone had a nice long weekend. Happy Easter and Passover to all who celebrate. Carolyn and Kelli are at the MSAA Assistant Principal's Conference today. You may need to be patient if you need someone from the office. 😅 Today, the identified restrooms (English, World Language, and gym, along with all single-stall restrooms) will be open throughout instructional time and during passing times. I'd love some help from those with classrooms/offices near those restrooms, monitoring that the numbers are limited during passing time.  Grades close for Term 3 on Thursday, March 9. Please remember that any student who is failing should have a 50 entered for the term, unless you have had a conversation with the Dean. Please keep communicating with any students who are failing, along with their family, and cc: the counselors and Deans. Grades must be entered by Wednesday, March 15, at 8am.  Faculty meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, at 2:55pm in the A...

Good morning all- Thanks for all of your thoughtful feedback and support over the past few weeks. We go through these patterns of poor student behavior at times, and working together as a team really helps to correct the behavior. We've had a lot of "tips" in the office, but we are still working on identifying students who are responsible for major behaviors. We have seen an increase in eHallPass use and are grateful for you all complying with that expectation. I will make an announcement about expectations at the beginning of the first two periods tomorrow. I will review the expectations shared in the letter  to the community sent on Friday.  This will be a work in progress. We will close various bathrooms throughout the day to increase adult supervision. Please continue to be mindful of students with special plans (BCAPs, 504s, etc.) related to restroom use and allow them to leave the classroom for the closest restroom when needed. All sophomores will attend the Ac...
