Happy April! I hope you had a wonderful long weekend. This is a quiet week but things are gearing up as we head towards the end of the year. Thanks for your support during the craziness of MCAS and the seal of biliteracy testing as well as the junior/senior speaker. If you attended Stephen Hill's presentation and would like to share your thoughts/impressions, he would love to hear them. I will send him a few quotes this week. I am told the students were amazing and his message was well received.  Term 3 ends next Wednesday, April 9. Please reach out to parents/caregivers as well as the counselor if you have a student you are worried. This is essential with any seniors. We are monitoring those that might be in danger of not graduating closely.  Today, I will meet with approximately 50 students who were randomly selected to take the PISA2025 next Thursday, April 10. The list is a combination of 9th and 10 graders as the pool was any student born in 2009. You will have the final ...

Good morning- Please take time to review the MCAS information shared by Meaghan as we prepare for testing tomorrow. We will also have students testing for the Seal of Biliteracy on both days. The list of students testing for the Seal can be found here . It may be adjusted slightly before Tuesday morning.  All members of the junior and senior classes who are not taking the Seal of Biliteracy will be reporting to the auditorium at the start of "F" block on Tuesday morning. Teachers should escort your class and remain in the auditorium for assistance if you are not proctoring MCAS or the Seal.  Department meetings are Thursday after school. All staff will continue working on updating curriculum maps unless your liaison has designated other agenda items.  I know some departments have had conversations and shared concerns about federal funding cuts. I wanted to share this article from EdWeek that includes some of my colleagues from the MSAA Board, advocating on Capitol ...

Happy St. Patrick's Day!  Thanks for all of the work you did on Friday. I hope enjoyed the chance to collaborate with colleagues and engage in some curriculum discussions. And congratulations to all of the raff le winners. If you chose class coverage or a mid-week flex, just let us know when you want to use your prize. If you chose a Dunkin gift card...come see me...they are expired! We'll get them replaced. A reminder that our friends from Japan are visiting this week on Thursday. The list of pairs is here . Please let us know if you need additional seats in your classroom. They will arrive at 8:30 am and leave at 2:30 pm. If your class would like to attend their presentation during A block, feel free to just come to the auditorium at 1:50 pm.  A team from Franklin High School will be visiting during x-block on Thursday as well, as they are in the process of adding a similar block to their schedule. We may pop into a couple of spaces. If you have something planned you think t...

Good morning- I hope the adjustment to the clocks springing forward hasn't thrown you off too much. I love that it means more light in the afternoon/evening.  On Thursday, March 13 year 2/3 teachers from Milford and Nipmuc High Schools will be here for learning walks. I have shared a schedule with impacted teachers but it may change over the next few days. Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to welcome new educators.  I am sure you saw Jim's message that the School Committee will hear our proposal on Competency Determination for the Class of 2025 at their meeting on Wednesday, March 12. I hope to share an update at our faculty meeting on Thursday, March 13, after school in the library . The meeting will involve MCAS training. As you are aware, the state has moved to a new portal so it will be important information for everyone to hear. Training for staff that do not attend faculty meetings will be scheduled at another time. Following the training, we will be walking...

Good morning- Congratulations to the cast and crew of AHSTS on another fantastic performance!  I am sure many of you saw the posting for a short-term substitute for math. Mike Shennett will be out for personal reasons for an undetermined amount of time. I do ask that everyone respect his privacy and not engage in conversation with students regarding his absence. I know we are all wishing him the very best. The Red Cross club is hosting a blood drive this Wednesday, March 5. The club will send details on students who are donating and volunteering. There are still spots available for anyone wishing to donate blood.  Menstrual products drive In recognition of Women's History Month, DAET, with the Department of Prevention and Human Services, will host a Menstrual Product Drive to support individuals who may have difficulties affording essential menstrual products. Period poverty is the inability or difficulty to access menstrual products, such as pads, tampons, and menstrual cups,...
