Good morning & happy Monday-

We had a very successful prom for the Class of 2025 Friday night and are ready for the celebrations for the Class of 2024 to begin. Kudos to the class officers and advisors Jen & Cory for planning a great event and the chaperones who were there to help out.

Happy last week of classes for our seniors (and senior teachers)! Here is the senior exam schedule if you need it. Senior teachers who need coverage for your B block exam, please reach out to me ASAP.

Seniors have a class meeting today (Monday) during x-block to review expectations for the next couple of weeks. Senior obligation forms will be in English teacher mailboxes Wednesday morning. Please distribute to your classes on Wednesday and Thursday and remind students they should not interrupt classes to get signatures. They should be signed once you have all materials students owe you.

It looks like it will be a warm week. Wish we had this weather on the weekend! If you are using fans make sure the cords are away from students. Classrooms that face the courtyard or are on the second floor are encouraged to leave your windows open overnight to bring in the cooler air.

Please remember the contract only allows for you to flex on Friday afternoons. No one should be leaving last block on other days unless you have spoken to an administrator and/or put in for the time off in Frontline. Thank you for adhering to this expectation.

Make sure you have entered x-block activities on Friday each week for the coming week. There is no x-block this week on Tuesday and Wednesday due to MCAS.

Tuesday, May 21 is the local town election. The Town Hall is bringing the ice cream truck in at 12:45pm and 3pm for election volunteers. Please don't bring your classes out to the truck. We will let students know it is for the volunteers.

Just a few reminders about the Math MCAS starting Tuesday:
  • We have scheduled the first 3 blocks of the day (if we are able to move back to our normal schedule before the 3rd block we will communicate that via email).
  • Please review the Proctor and Room Change Schedule: MCAS MATH Proctor Assignments and Relocations 2023. A few adjustments have been made so please be sure to look at it again and let me know if you have any questions or see any issues.
  • If you are proctoring and have students who will not be testing (non-sophomores) please let them know to report to the library and list them in this spreadsheet so that Marybeth knows who to expect.
  • First block proctors -- please pick up materials from the office in the morning before 8:20am.
  • All students will use their chromebook to test and SHOULD NOT BE LOGGED INTO THE CHROMEBOOK!  They will get into testnav from the app screen.
  • First block proctors: your proctor script is printed and in the materials box for you to read aloud. We have also included the full manual if you prefer. We will begin the sessions and unlock the tests in Pearson for all rooms.
  • During testing Erin and I will be based out of the English hallway.  We will come around to the small groups for attendance and to check for issues. If you need us and do not see us in the hallway please dial 0 and Linda or Lindsay will get us on the radio.
  • At the end of testing all materials should be returned by the last proctor to the office.
  • Remember that their test tickets are the part of materials that we need to keep secure.  After they are logged in, please collect their tickets. Keeping them in alphabetical order is a HUGE help to make sure we have all tickets.
  • Room assignments for students are posted in the front lobby and in the cafeteria and also attached here for your reference.
  • When students finish the test they need to sign out of testnav and close their chromebooks. They are not allowed to be on their chromebooks, cell phones, or be working on any school work unless all students in the room have finished testing and the tests are locked.
  • There is no X-block or 5 minute break on MCAS testing days. Second period will run until 11:00am. Please do not dismiss your second block students until that time.
Please let us know if you have any questions.

Here is a reminder of upcoming important dates for your planning purposes:

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms & mother figures out there- Best of luck to the special athletes competing in the 5-Town Special Olympics today!  I apologize for the late notice, but we will do a class meeting with the juniors/prom attendees on Tuesday, May 13, and the seniors on Wednesday, May 14, during x-block. Please send your second block seniors to the auditorium, as we are not able to make announcements on 5/14.  Art Saves Ashland, which includes the student art show, as well as the Spring Choral Concert, are happening back to back on Thursday, May 15, starting at 4pm.  The concert is at 7pm in the auditorium. These events showcase the amazing talent of many of our students.  Here is the Early Release schedule for Friday, May 16. You can also find it linked on the school calendar. Good morning- I hope the adjustment to the clocks springing forward hasn't thrown you off too much. I love that it means more light in the afternoon/evening.  On Thursday, March 13 year 2/3 teachers from Milford and Nipmuc High Schools will be here for learning walks. I have shared a schedule with impacted teachers but it may change over the next few days. Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to welcome new educators.  I am sure you saw Jim's message that the School Committee will hear our proposal on Competency Determination for the Class of 2025 at their meeting on Wednesday, March 12. I hope to share an update at our faculty meeting on Thursday, March 13, after school in the library . The meeting will involve MCAS training. As you are aware, the state has moved to a new portal so it will be important information for everyone to hear. Training for staff that do not attend faculty meetings will be scheduled at another time. Following the training, we will be walking...
