Good morning, I hope you all had a great weekend.  I know many of you spent it grading mid-terms and finalizing term grades.  As a reminder, the grading window will close on Wednesday at 3pm.  Report card grades will be shared with students on Friday at the end of the school day. I am still waiting to hear from iPass regarding the issue with course selection and juniors.  Stay tuned for information.  Course registration timelines- See attached timeline Once again, please review the timeline for course selection. Please remember to have conversations with students before making recommendations. Attached is the Teacher Guide to entering recommendations. Good evening! Hope you enjoyed the weekend, especially the beautiful, spring-like weather today.  What a game- go Pats! I spent some time this weekend getting the 2018-2019 school year set up and the course catalog rolled over.  How are we already halfway there?  I hope you have a great last day of Semester I and exam week.  Thank you for working each and every day to educate the students at AHS.  This year, more than ever, I have been so impressed with the thought each and every one of you gives to making sure our students are getting the best education, and that they are ready for whatever their future brings.  You have been kind, compassionate, innovative, and creative.  You are willing to try new things and bring new ideas to us every day.  Thank you for being willing to collaborate with each other and with us in the front office.  I am so glad to be a part of this team. We will close the window for iParent/iStudent at the end of the day ...

Good afternoon and Happy Monday!   I hope you have all enjoyed the Family Reconnect Weekend.  We are lucky to enjoy today off to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. but this day does remind me of how much still needs to be done.  I can truly say that the students at AHS are the kindest I have ever worked with, yet we continue to deal with an increasing amount of incidents of discrimination and behaviors that cause hurt to groups that are different, whether it be because of their skin color, religion, sexual or gender identity, and a host of other reasons.  I believe it is because students are becoming more willing to report incidents, but it is really hard to say that definitively.  Please keep doing what you are doing to encourage positive, kind, respectful behavior in the classroom and other educational spaces where we find ourselves working with students.  We have always taken behaviors that hurt other students with the utmost seriousness ...

Good evening- I hope you all enjoyed the extra quality time at home and have stayed safe and warm.  As much as I was hoping for the delay on Friday it was fun to have the extra family time.  It is going to be a whole different world by the end of this week in terms of weather. Monday morning (perhaps as you read this) there will be students out and about in the building, or at least in the main hallways, helping to film a promotional video about AHS.  WACA will be doing the filming, before school for about 20 minutes.  The goal is to create hallways that look like they might during a typical class change.  I apologize for any disruption but it's a one time thing. On that note, I have heard from several teachers concern about students who are still wandering around the building before the first bell.  The Deans have been diligent about standing at the doors to the lobby but also place trust in the students who say they have an appointment with a teacher....

Happy New Year!

Welcome back to 2018! As we start the new year I invite you all to join me in the Happy Teacher Challenge.  You will find the Challenge calendar in your boxes today.  Teachers who complete at least 80% of the challenge and email or tweet me at least 10 days with #happyteacherchallenge will be entered into a drawing for prizes at the end of the month.  Let's kick off the start of the school year with some purposeful fun! We are just about halfway there.  A reminder that all one-year plan faculty members (teachers in their first three years) should submit evidence of your work towards Standards 3 & 4 as well as your goal attainment by Monday, January 8.  You can review the timeline  here.  All evidence should be submitted in the Google folder and you should share the folder (not individual pieces of evidence) with your evaluator. The new year also means the scheduling process for 2018-2019 school year will be starting soon.  If you considering a...
