Good afternoon on this rainy Saturday- I hope you are all enjoying a quiet weekend. First and foremost, thank you so much for another great Parent's Night. As always I heard a lot of positive feedback about your presentations. Please take a moment to complete this Google Survey about the evening. Many of you told me or sent emails about how much you enjoyed the earlier time. The time change was a result of a conflict with football. The game was moved forward an evening out of respect for the Jewish holiday. I will be making sure that conflict does not happen again next year. Thanks to all of you who have submitted your self-assessment and goals which were due yesterday. I spent some time going through goals last night and was awestruck with the professional practice goal the majority of you have chosen. I can not wait to hear more about the planned benchmarks and planned activities. Your commitment to the students at AHS is amazing. Thank you for making relationship b...

Good afternoon- I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  The weather certainly helped make it an enjoyable one.  It looks like it will be a hot week.  Please feel free to use fans in your rooms as long as you keep students away from them.  This was the directive from Facilities last year.  I will be out of the building this week on Tuesday (tomorrow) on a personal day and Thursday for a professional day learning about the new NEASC process.  Please feel free to reach out to me by email either day.   If you are a study hall teacher and have students that want to use the courtyard please send them with a pass to the main office.  They will sign out from there.  We will limit the number of students so may send some back if the numbers get to big (this hasn't happened yet). You have received the Back to School Night schedule from Lauren.  Each period is 8 minutes, slightly shorter than our usual 10 minutes.  I will be reminding parents ...

Good morning- I hope everyone got a great first full week of school!  It was fun to get around the building to see all of the hands-on, thoughtful learning taking place and I am looking forward to getting into more classrooms this week.  Yesterday Jamele Adams met with the Peer Leaders to discuss the programs in October.  It was inspiring to watch him talk to 40+ students about inclusion, diversity, and trust.   I have created a link to this newsletter with the faculty meeting agendas .  You can refer back to find any information you missed.  I have also posted the educator evaluation timeline these.  School council: The AHS School Council is a group mandated by the MA Department of Education to assist the principal in: 1. Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards. 2. Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school. 3. Reviewing the annual...

Updates and week to come

Thank you for another great week! I know the transition back to school can be an exhausting one and I appreciate how hard you have all been working.  I especially love the fun stories and pictures many of you have shared.  You all seem to be having a lot of fun while supporting students in great learning adventures. A few things from this past week: The fire drill went well on Tuesday.  Just about everyone had their red & green cards.  Please start having your classes line up for attendance so we know who the kids who aren't with a class are and can quickly identify where they belong.  If you are on your prep and in your room please bring your red/green cards with and simply hold the green. Thank you for bearing with some long class meetings on Wednesday.  Students have now heard our major expectations and should be expected to follow them.  Please do your part to enforce these expectations.  You, as a faculty, voted to keep the hat rule in pl...

Start of the year!

Happy Labor Day!  I hope you are all enjoying a great long weekend.  Thank you all for a great start to the 2017-2018 school year.  You work so hard and I hope you know how much I appreciate all of you. It was fantastic to see the positive energy throughout the building. Lauren, Erin, & I enjoyed getting pictures (and taking our own) of all of the #1st3days activities going on around the building. The district and town is collecting money for the needs of those in Houston affected by Hurrican Harvey.  If you would like to donate there will be an envelope in the main office this week until Friday morning.  The Town Hall will coordinate sending the donations from the employees of the Town of Ashland.   A reminder that all faculty should have a parking sticker, placed on the back of your rear-view mirror. Officer Muri will be checking cars frequently, especially in the student lot, so please get a sticker to avoid a ticket.  If you have traditionally ...
