Thank you for another great week! I know the transition back to school can be an exhausting one and I appreciate how hard you have all been working. I especially love the fun stories and pictures many of you have shared. You all seem to be having a lot of fun while supporting students in great learning adventures.
A few things from this past week:
The fire drill went well on Tuesday. Just about everyone had their red & green cards. Please start having your classes line up for attendance so we know who the kids who aren't with a class are and can quickly identify where they belong. If you are on your prep and in your room please bring your red/green cards with and simply hold the green.
Thank you for bearing with some long class meetings on Wednesday. Students have now heard our major expectations and should be expected to follow them. Please do your part to enforce these expectations. You, as a faculty, voted to keep the hat rule in place so I ask that you respect this decision and make sure students are not wearing hats in your classroom.
As always, the PBIS all-school activity and Convocation were full of energy. I appreciate your support in helping students learn the core values and expectations in a fun, engaging way and for allowing the students to enjoy an event that is so important to them (even if we don't understand it 😄).
Things for the future:
The Pineapple Chart is back in the form of a real white board! It is across from the mail boxes and will be ready for your lesson invitations within the next week. Please share with your colleagues the exciting, creative, cool things you are doing. If you want to see a colleague in action and need coverage don't hesitate to ask.
Picture day is Wednesday, September 13. Please be prepared to get your picture taken for you ID card. Everyone needs to have an updated ID with the current school year listed.
New teachers will be introduced at School Committee this week on Wednesday, September 13 at 6pm. If you haven't had a chance to meet our new colleagues please make an effort to stop by their rooms and welcome them.
Our first faculty meeting of the year is next Thursday, September 14 at 7:10am (yawn-I have been enjoying getting here a little bit later!) Please be in the library ready to start on time. If you have an idea or activity you would like to share at faculty meeting please let me know!
Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, September 28. I have adjusted the time to
5-6:30pm. We will do a 15 minute introduction 7 welcome in the auditorium then send parents off to run through their student's schedule. Classes have been shortened to 8 minutes each...hope this is all right with you. The reason for the change is we host a football game that evening at 7pm due to Yom Kippur beginning Friday evening at sundown. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I encourage you to be creative with your parent presentations. Have your students help!
As Asst. Superintendent Vieira said in his email Friday....take a risk this week, try something new. Keep doing the great work you are doing every day and building relationships with your students and your colleagues.
