Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!

I hope you had a wonderful summer break and found time to rest and rejuvenate. I look forward to seeing you all on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Counselors return to the building on Monday, and the office is starting to get busy. New teachers will be welcomed on Wednesday, August 20. We are looking forward to seeing new and old students. New Student Orientation is on Thursday, August 21, from 4-6pm. A reminder, if you are an advisor, we will have the club fair prior to the orientation. Student leaders can start setting up at 3:15pm in the cafeteria. 

New staff, please join the staff Google Classroom. All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The class code is a5ca6a4.

If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases. The custodial staff has the list of how many desks are needed in each room and will be working on that over the coming week. 

Our PD meetings will take place in the AHS library unless listed elsewhere. The AHS schedule can be found here.

Lunch will be provided on Tuesday, August 26. 

For your planning purposes, I have attached the schedules for Wednesday, August 28 & Thursday, August 29. They can also be found linked to the AHS Calendar. More information about the All-school activity and Convocation will be shared during our PD days. 

We will have class meetings the week of September 2, during X-block. Students will be called out of the 2nd period at 10:15am. 
All meetings may last a little longer.
9/2- Class of 2029
9/3- Class of 2028
9/4- Class of 2027

As a reminder, all stipend positions have been posted in TalentEd, and you must apply through the system in order to be granted the position. Current open positions are AP Coordinator and ModelUN. If you have an interest in either, please reach out. (The AP Coordinator stipend is being renegotiated.) If you are stepping away from a position or a group no longer meets, please let me know. 

If you are a current advisor and have events scheduled, please get them in SchoolDude and let Linda know to add them to the AHS calendar ASAP. If you are looking to pick up a new role, I will share vacant advisor positions within the next week. 

Back to School Night will be September 11, 2025, from 6-8PM. 

As you prepare for the first days of school and getting to know your students, I will once again encourage all educators to spend the first few days building relationships.  Here are a few resources and questions to look at.

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . Good morning- As we wrap up Term 2, please take a moment to remind students of the mid-year exam expectations .  I hope to have the 2026-2027 Program of Studies posted and shared with the community by the end of the week. Thank you for all of the work you did updating it for the coming school year. I am excited by the proposed new classes, and I am sure students will be as well.  The schedule for our day on Friday is as follows: 8:00-9:30 am- UDL Refresher: All staff (unless assigned elsewhere)- AHS library     ESPs - DLL     School counselors, school psychologists, and adjustment counselors - MPY online PD     Nurses - meet as a department     Speech/OT - meet with Britt     EL - meet with Christy  9:30-11:45 am- Department curriculum work as assigned by liaison     10:30-11:45 am- English, math, & sped vertical meetings w/grade 8 & 9 teachers If I have forgotten anyone or you have any questions, do...

Good afternoon- I hope you have been able to dig out from the storm. Tomorrow is sure to be a little chaotic, and I fully predict we will have students who don't understand the exam schedule changes and families who may keep their students home. We will need to be flexible! Stay warm! Here is the schedule for tomorrow:  G block exam: 10:30 am- 12 pm Lunch: 1st (12:05-12:35) - English, math, & science             2nd (12:40-1:10) - history, world language, unified arts, special education, ELL & wellness Students will need to be asked to remain in their class for first lunch and return to the class they were testing in for second lunch. We will do our best with this but are not going to stress about kids being elsewhere.
