Good morning-

As we start the last full week of Term 2/Semester 1 please make sure you are sharing your midyear exam expectations with students. Exams should be administered during the scheduled time.  We have sent out expectations but if you could help remind students that they need to be in the cafeteria or the library if they are in school outside of scheduled exams, that would be great. Remind students they must be present or have an excused absence if they need to miss an exam. Students should speak to their Dean if they have a question about attendance during an exam. If you have students who are struggling please make sure you are reaching out to parents/guardians as well as the students' counselor.

Next weekend is a district Family Reconnect Weekend. Students should not have any homework, outside of preparing for exams. No activities should be scheduled from Saturday, January 18, through Monday, January 20, after 2:30pm.

As an FYI the SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) will be administered to all 9th grade students this week. The screening will be done during Wellness classes. There should not be any disruption to other classes but we wanted you to be aware this is occurring. Nurses and counselors administer a brief questionnaire to all students in order to assess unhealthy alcohol and drug use.

I will be out of the building on Friday, January 17, attending the MSAA Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Summit with some students. We have 2-3 spaces available for students if you know of anyone in a club/activity that you think would want to attend. The Summit is being held at Holy Cross from 8:30am-1pm.

The PTO is looking for Clocker Classic players:
Please join us for the 2025 Clocker Classic! We are looking for faculty and staff to participate in a basketball game with AMS and Warren versus AHS and Mindess. The game will be held on February 27th at 6PM at Ashland High School. It’s a fun way to bring the APS community together.  Questions? Please contact Kate Jutstrom at katejutstrom@gmail.com. Sign up below to show off your Clocker Pride!!

Have a wonderful week!

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good afternoon- I hope you have been able to dig out from the storm. Tomorrow is sure to be a little chaotic, and I fully predict we will have students who don't understand the exam schedule changes and families who may keep their students home. We will need to be flexible! Stay warm! Here is the schedule for tomorrow:  G block exam: 10:30 am- 12 pm Lunch: 1st (12:05-12:35) - English, math, & science             2nd (12:40-1:10) - history, world language, unified arts, special education, ELL & wellness Students will need to be asked to remain in their class for first lunch and return to the class they were testing in for second lunch. We will do our best with this but are not going to stress about kids being elsewhere. We have no way of knowing how many G block students are staying for A block.  A block exam: 1:15 pm- 2:45 pm Along with the updated midyear exam schedule .  Grades for Term 2 will close on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a...
