Good morning-
There will be a sophomore class meeting on Monday, October 7, during x-block. Students will be called to the auditorium.
We have a faculty meeting on Thursday, October 10, at 2:55pm. We will meet in the AHS library. The main agenda item of the meeting will be to discuss the ESP job descriptions shared with you in August and to focus on best practices for working with a support colleague in your classroom. If you have any other agenda items, please let me know.
A reminder that this coming weekend is the first Family Reconnect Weekend of the year. Here are some reminders of expectations to help you plan accordingly.
Teachers –
1. Ensure that long-term assignments are not due upon the return to school
2. Avoid an increase in student workload leading up to the Reconnect Weekend
3. Do not assign schoolwork over the weekend
4. Do not schedule tests or quizzes for the day after the Reconnect Weekend
Athletics and Activities –
There will be NO practices or activities during these Reconnect Weekends with few exceptions, as some teams will have games the day we return. These practices cannot start before 2 pm on Monday, October 14.
Thanks to everyone who answered the survey about October 16. If you haven't had a chance it is attached here.
Have you thought about becoming an administrator at some point in your career? If so, I would love for you to join me at the next Board meeting of the Massachusetts School Administrators Association on October 17 at 1pm. The goal of the meeting is to foster leadership, promote sustainability in administration, and celebrate the dedication of school Principals across the state in honor of National Principals Month. If you are curious about administration, the meeting will include a panel discussion with sitting principals, superintendents, and a state representative. Please think about joining me.
Reminders from StuCo:
Homecoming is coming up, the week of October 15th! A few things for you to know...
Dress-Up Days
The dress-up days are as follows:
October 15th - Pajama Day
October 16th - Groutfit Day (which apparently means wear gray) / PSAT / Community Service Day
October 17th - Twin Day (come dressed as a colleague!)
October 18th - Class color day (seniors in white, juniors in blue, sophomores in red, and freshmen in purple)
Homecoming Rally
The homecoming rally is on Friday, October 18th, starting around 1:45pm. There will be a modified schedule put out by the administration soon.
We are looking for some volunteers to participate in our uniquely-Ashland tradition, the annual "Teachers on Desk chairs Relay Race." Check out
this video from last year for a glimpse into some of the fun! Teachers who participate will need to find a trusted student who will push you across the gym floor and back. The Student Council board will be around shortly to start asking for "volunteers", but if you want to secure your spot on a team, please email Josh and let him know! You will then need to find a student to push your chair by Tuesday, October 15th.
Homecoming Dance
Our semi-formal homecoming dance will be on Saturday, October 19th, from 7pm - 10pm. We are looking for approximately 20 chaperones to help (we're expecting over 600 students). The students will be around to ask some of you to be our "invited guests" at this dance, but if you would like to volunteer without being asked first, please let Josh know!
Thanks a lot,
Natalie Mazzini and Josh Wiczer
Student Council Advisors
