Good morning-

We are almost to the halfway mark. I hope midyear's go well this week. A reminder that the term closes on Friday, January 26. Grades will be due on Thursday, February 1 at 8:30am. Please let us know if you have questions about student grades.

The start of the new semester is a great time to reset classroom expectations. Starting Semester 2 it is an expectation that SecurlyPass (formerly eHallpass) is used for all student passes. This is an important tool to assist us with tracking student's whereabouts and safety. If you have questions about how to effectively use this tool in a way that is least disruptive to your classroom, please let us know.

A reminder that if you need to leave the building during the school day you should sign in and out in the front office and use the front doors, or at least make sure side doors are secure when leaving. It is okay to run out to grab lunch or a coffee but if you are leaving for an extended period of time, such as your prep period, you do need to put in for the time away from the building.

The AHS Site Council has started conversations about weighted vs. unweighted GPA's. This week we will host some student focus groups to discuss a potential change for future classes. If you are interested in some of the information reviewed by Site Council please check out the minutes on the AHS website. I am happy to share documents/articles that have been shared as well. You are also encouraged to talk to our teacher reps: Carey Bradley, Aleisha Egan, Marybeth Gallant, Jen Pavia-Shiels, and Janet Twomey, for more information.

Next Friday, February 2 is our 3rd annual Flag Day Ceremony. The CARES team and Cultural Student Union have also planned a cultural week.  The modified schedule and details of the events of the week will be shared ASAP.

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good afternoon- I hope you have been able to dig out from the storm. Tomorrow is sure to be a little chaotic, and I fully predict we will have students who don't understand the exam schedule changes and families who may keep their students home. We will need to be flexible! Stay warm! Here is the schedule for tomorrow:  G block exam: 10:30 am- 12 pm Lunch: 1st (12:05-12:35) - English, math, & science             2nd (12:40-1:10) - history, world language, unified arts, special education, ELL & wellness Students will need to be asked to remain in their class for first lunch and return to the class they were testing in for second lunch. We will do our best with this but are not going to stress about kids being elsewhere. We have no way of knowing how many G block students are staying for A block.  A block exam: 1:15 pm- 2:45 pm Along with the updated midyear exam schedule .  Grades for Term 2 will close on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a...
