Good morning-
Today, October 2nd is National Custodians Day. Please take a moment to thank the crew when you have a chance. We are truly lucky to have a team that wants to support anything and everything happening at AHS.
For the past few years we have partnered with Mass General Hospital, among others, to offer the iDecide curriculum to students who have been caught using substances such as vapes, alcohol, and marijuana. As part of their research we administer a student survey each year. The survey is brief and should be completed during x-block. PLEASE READ the iDecide survey instructions DURING X-block to all students. There is a small list of exempted students who have been told to the report to the main office. Students are receiving the survey link via their email but you should also read the directions.
As Dr. Caira shared last week, we will have a group of APS administrators in the building conducting learning walks on Tuesday, October 3. The learning walks will occur during F block. If you are interested in hosting observers please let me know by the end of the day on Monday. Classrooms will be assigned by Tuesday morning and I will let you know if you are coming to your class. As a reminder these walks are for our professional development and are in no way evaluative of your teaching practice
Back to School Night: Here is the schedule for Back to School Night schedule Tuesday, October 3. This is an evening for parents to meet you and hear about your curriculum and classroom expectations. I will remind parents during introductions that it is not a time to discuss individual student needs. Please make sure to share how a student can seek support from you if needed and how a parent can get in touch with you as part your presentation.
FYI- On Wednesday October 4th at approximately 2:20pm there will be a nationwide test of the National Emergency Alert system, which includes alerts to cell phones.
