Good afternoon-

This message was shared with all students on Friday, April 1. Please share this with your classes this week so that all students who celebrate are aware of this option.

We recognize Ramadan, which begins this evening, as a month-long observance by Muslims worldwide, marked by spiritual reflection and worship. For students who observe Ramadan and may be fasting, we want to offer you a space during your lunch period to be away from the cafeteria. The library and distance learning lab has been reserved for you for reflection and prayer throughout the month. The DLL is the room off the library.  If you have 3rd lunch the counseling office will be open as a space for you. As always, please reach out to your counselor or administrator with any questions or concerns or if you need to access quiet space at additional times during the day. We wish a safe, happy, and generous Ramadan to all members of our community who observe the holiday.

With one week left in Term 3 please make sure your grades in iPass are up to date, check in with students who are behind and alert administration and counseling of any students who are failing. We will once again make 50 the lowest grade for a failing student unless there are circumstances you have discussed with counseling and admin (ex.-the student has done no work all term). Please remember to discuss incompletes with counseling and admin before telling a student you will give them extra time.  Following the handbook expectations around make-up work will help students learn to manage their time.

Grades will open on Friday after school. They are due at noon on Wednesday, April 13.  I recognize this is a slightly shorter window than normal but grades are due to be released on Thursday, April 14.

Friday, April 8 is the senior prom. All students attending know they must be in school until 12:15pm in order to attend.

We have a faculty meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 14. This meeting will be canceled since we have Friday, April 14 off.

JED High School:
I am still in need of teacher representation on the JED High School interdisciplinary team. Lend your voice to how AHS implements social/emotional supports that impact classroom time. This team will meet on the following dates to learn about the JED High School comprehensive approach and how we can equitably implement mental health programming at our school:
April 26- 1 hour (via Zoom at 3:30pm)
random small group meetings to collect information and complete assessment questions
May 9- 30 minutes (during X-block and/or after school via Zoom)
In September the team will help develop the strategic plan for AHS and mental health supports moving forward.

Ashland High School Student Council Bingo Night

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good morning- I hope the adjustment to the clocks springing forward hasn't thrown you off too much. I love that it means more light in the afternoon/evening.  On Thursday, March 13 year 2/3 teachers from Milford and Nipmuc High Schools will be here for learning walks. I have shared a schedule with impacted teachers but it may change over the next few days. Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to welcome new educators.  I am sure you saw Jim's message that the School Committee will hear our proposal on Competency Determination for the Class of 2025 at their meeting on Wednesday, March 12. I hope to share an update at our faculty meeting on Thursday, March 13, after school in the library . The meeting will involve MCAS training. As you are aware, the state has moved to a new portal so it will be important information for everyone to hear. Training for staff that do not attend faculty meetings will be scheduled at another time. Following the training, we will be walking...
