Good evening all-
I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
As we move to mask optional this week please remember to encourage students to respect the choices of their peers and staff members. Students can choose to not wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Students and staff who are out with Covid and return after 5 days will be expected to wear a mask for the next 5 days.
X-block this week will be held from Tuesday to Friday. Please make sure you have scheduled yourself by 2nd block on Monday and spend the extra time on Monday making sure students in your class have signed themselves up for each day. I have attached the Student Training slides here if you think it would be helpful to review. We will discuss the X-block surveys, expectations, and strategies to support students at this week's faculty meeting.
Please remind students to also complete the course registration process on Monday if they have not done so.
Please remember to follow the Student Handbook expectations for absences. We have heard from a few people that an increasing number of students, mostly upperclassmen, are coming in late or leaving early when you are giving an assessment.
"Students who are tardy must still turn in work due for the class missed that day. Students are also
responsible for work assigned that day in class even if they were not present. Students may turn in
assignments to the office to be placed in a teacher’s mailbox.
Students missing class are expected to follow the same policy as an unexcused absence for making
up missed work.
Students who are tardy and as a result miss an assessment (e.g. test, quiz, handing in a project or paper)
are subject to receiving zeroes for any work missed in any applicable classes as a result of their
tardiness unless the work is made up by the end of the day or alternate arrangements are made with
the teacher. It is expected and required that any assessment will be made up/handed in by the end of
the school day. "
A reminder you can not exit in front of the school when the school bus lights are flashing and the stop sign is out. Please be patient with the buses or exit by driving around the building.
The Red Cross will be holding a blood drive at AHS this Wednesday, March 9 from 12-5pm. They will be in the back of the gym. If you are interested in donating please email student organizers Kyle or Sarah Schiller or Jordan Sherman. I believe there open spots from 12-2:15pm.
