Good afternoon-

I hope you enjoyed a lovely long weekend.

Faculty meeting is Thursday at 3:05pm in the AHS library. We will discuss current topics of interest/concern using an EdCamp style.

Current topics include:
Working with the current 9th grade students-what's working?
Supporting ELL/non-English speakers in the regular education classroom
How to best use the support of ESP's in your classroom
Diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom

If you have another topic you would like to discuss please let me know.

Important reminders from the special education department:
Students should not be sent to a support room or teacher without checking with the teacher first.
Please pre-arrange with the teacher for assessments being taken outside of the classroom.
If you have an ESP in your room, please ask that person to work with a student who is struggling to stay in the classroom.
Please write students up when they leave the classroom without permission. This must be documented.
If you have questions about behavior plans or accommodations/modifications please reach out to the student's liaison.
We will discuss the role of an ESP in the classroom more on Thursday but please remember as a classroom teacher, you help direct what you need the ESP does to support students.
If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to Britt, either Dean, or me. We are happy to work together to proactively brainstorm and look for ways to provide support.

iPass-
Please note that iPass now has a place to record a student's preferred pronouns. Please remember to continue to respect student choice around this. Students recently expressed frustration that many teachers ask for pronouns but then don't use them. I reminded students that we are all learning and trying but mistakes are made.

A reminder that all classes should have grades updated every two weeks in iPass.

The gender neutral bathrooms are not being left open consistently. Please do not close the door when you use them. They are the single stall bathrooms on the right in the English hallway, the on the right in the math hallway, and the one on the right in the D wing (music) hallway. Students can also use the single stall restrooms in the nurses office or the wellness teachers offices. Thanks for your attention to this!

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good afternoon- I hope you have been able to dig out from the storm. Tomorrow is sure to be a little chaotic, and I fully predict we will have students who don't understand the exam schedule changes and families who may keep their students home. We will need to be flexible! Stay warm! Here is the schedule for tomorrow:  G block exam: 10:30 am- 12 pm Lunch: 1st (12:05-12:35) - English, math, & science             2nd (12:40-1:10) - history, world language, unified arts, special education, ELL & wellness Students will need to be asked to remain in their class for first lunch and return to the class they were testing in for second lunch. We will do our best with this but are not going to stress about kids being elsewhere. We have no way of knowing how many G block students are staying for A block.  A block exam: 1:15 pm- 2:45 pm Along with the updated midyear exam schedule .  Grades for Term 2 will close on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a...
