Good afternoon- As we get ready to head into the last teaching day of 2020 I want to wish you and your loved ones a wonderful winter break and a happy New Year. Tomorrow (Wednesday) is an early release day. Please follow your regular class schedule and enjoy the afternoon. Thank you so much for all that you do for the students of AHS. I know how hard you have all worked this year and am grateful for each of you.  Before you start break..... Please complete the attached survey on livestream teaching when you get a chance: Information needed: "live" teaching and learning We missed gathering with all of you this month so are planning a fun January get together. Let me know using the attached form if you are interested in participating:  AHS mid-year celebration As a reminder, January 15 is a professional development day. A schedule will be shared soon. We will spend some time on our ongoing equity work. The majority of the day will be dedicated to planning with a focus on l...

Good afternoon AHS- I hope you had a good day and are ready for the snow. Please communicate with your students that you will meet with the cohorts in your typical fashion tomorrow. If you meet every day with both cohorts, continue to do so. Jim's message to the community was reflective of the fact that Thursday is a B cohort day and not meant to imply you should only meet with cohort B.  If you have any power issues please feel free to text (508-808-0109) or email me and we can try to get the message out to your students.  A huge thank you for your participation in the NEASC process. We just met with the team and they spoke very highly of you and our students. They recognize how hard you are all working and had lots to commend us for. None of their recommendations will come as a surprise as they involve continuing to move forward with the work we are doing.  Once again, here is the link to faculty meeting tomorrow (Thursday) at 3pm: Closing remarks to the faculty The Cha...

Good evening/morning- If you saw Jim's email you know you are welcome to be in the building tomorrow. We will have another sign in sheet created so we know who is present. Thank you in advance for abiding by the district expectations of remaining in your own classroom. Thank you also for all you are doing and will do over the next couple of days. I know the NEASC timing is less than ideal but I am so appreciative of your participation in the process. I talked to the Chair on Friday and he asked me to stress again that this new process is collaborative. I am looking forward to celebrating our successes at the end of the week and getting back to planning for the great things we had in store. Despite this crazy year I know you are all still focused on our vision of the AHS graduate and you are working harder than ever to meet the needs of all students. I know that will be evident in everything the visiting team sees over the next few days.  The visiting team is excited to introduce th...

Good morning all- As you know we will remain in full remote for the remainder of the calendar year. Attached the  AHS Hybrid/Remote Learning Expectations  here as a reminder. Remind students if you have not had a chance that the Wednesday schedule stays the same with 2 hours of synchronous meetings followed by asynchronous assignments. This can be an opportunity to bring your cohorts together but as Jim mentioned in his email this is not a requirement. You should meet with your students synchronously each class period at least at the beginning and the end of the period, as referenced in the Expectations. I do encourage you to work in time off the computer as well, both for you and the students. I am hearing from some that they are experiencing some serious screen time fatigue. Many of our students are in class from 8:30-2:55 with only a lunch break. This is a lot of computer time.  The building will continue to be open every day except Wednesday and ...

Good morning- The NEASC report is completed and we will spend this week finalizing plans for the visit starting next Sunday. Many of you will be asked to attend meetings based on the working groups you were in last year and we appreciate everyone who as volunteered to allow a virtual visit to their classroom. While this is a less than ideal visit it will be good to have it completed and behind us so we can continue the work of the 2020-2021 school year and start thinking about what 2021-2022 will look like. Faculty meeting will be held this month on Thursday, December 17 at 3pm to hear closing remarks on our NEASC visit. A Zoom link will be sent next week.  A few weeks ago I sent a survey to students to get their thoughts on how Term 1 went. They offered a lot of positive as well as constructive feedback. I have shared the results here:  Student Survey of Term 1 (w/o comments)  as well as the Student Survey Comments . Some great comments here. Have a wonderful week. Works...

Good evening- I have attached the   AHS Hybrid/Remote Learning Expectations  here as a reminder. Please note the time change for the lunch block. Everything else in the schedule remains the same.   The building will be open every day except Wednesday if you prefer to teach from your classroom. If you have materials to get to students you are welcome to let them know you will leave them at the front of the school for pick up. I do ask that you are in the building if you are leaving materials out. It can not be the front office or custodial staff to move materials in and out.  Please let me know if you have any questions.
