Good evening all-

Here is the schedule for our PD time on Tuesday.

November 3 Professional Development:
Our PD day will consist of 3 activities. We will meet as a faculty online at 8:30am for Part 2 of our Equity training. Thank you for all of the work you have done this year to support students in this area. The current situation creates so many issues of inequity that many of you have brought forward. I hope this session helps you to continue to keep this work as a focus as you prepare for Term 2.

11:45 am NEASC/department work
Our NEASC visit is still scheduled for December 13-16. We did a lot of work on our priority areas last year and need to spend time just updating and refining on Tuesday.

Priority Area 1 --

Develop a written document describing the school's core values, beliefs about learning, and vision of the graduate.

Priority Area 2 --

Ensure that the school community takes collective responsibility for the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional well-being of every student and can demonstrate how each student is known, valued, and connected.

Priority Area 3 --

Ensure that Ashland High School has the appropriate systems in place to support student learning and well-being.

Priority Area 4--

Ensure that Ashland High School has a written curriculum in a consistent format for all courses in all departments and that learners demonstrate their learning through a variety of assessment strategies that inform classroom instruction and curriculum.

Priority Area 5--

Ensure that professional practices and structures are in place to support student learning

and well-being.

I will share links to committee and department work completed during the 2019-2020 school year by the end of the day Monday. Please review as a department and update anything that has changed during the past 8 months (outside of COVID!!) Once those tasks are completed you can focus on other department work and prep for Term 2.
Department liaisons, please spend time Tuesday or in the next week or so updating curricular/text lists.

End of Term 1 is November 13, next Friday. The grading window will open on Friday and will remain  open until Wednesday, November 18 at 3pm.

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good afternoon- I hope you have been able to dig out from the storm. Tomorrow is sure to be a little chaotic, and I fully predict we will have students who don't understand the exam schedule changes and families who may keep their students home. We will need to be flexible! Stay warm! Here is the schedule for tomorrow:  G block exam: 10:30 am- 12 pm Lunch: 1st (12:05-12:35) - English, math, & science             2nd (12:40-1:10) - history, world language, unified arts, special education, ELL & wellness Students will need to be asked to remain in their class for first lunch and return to the class they were testing in for second lunch. We will do our best with this but are not going to stress about kids being elsewhere. We have no way of knowing how many G block students are staying for A block.  A block exam: 1:15 pm- 2:45 pm Along with the updated midyear exam schedule .  Grades for Term 2 will close on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a...
