Good evening all-
For the past 15 years I have been impressed with the professionalism and dedication of the faculty and staff I work with at AHS. This week made me think "these people are truly amazing". I know you are all working so hard and probably feeling very underappreciated. Please know how grateful I am for each and every one of you. You are an amazing team.
I am excited to welcome students back tomorrow. Please be conscious of student commentary on the closure in your classes. Some of our students involved in the reason for the closure are struggling with guilt and comments from peers should be stopped and reported if inappropriate.
I would like to reiterate that you will not be contacted if you have not been in any contact with a student that is positive. The attendance emails sent by nursing are not meant to be cryptic, they are necessary to respect the privacy of students while giving you an idea of how long the student will be out. Please understand that if you have a student in your class that is positive or quarantining it is not our right to share that information. We have no idea if students are asymptomatic and quarantined or actually sick. You can expect students to be logging in from home but please be understanding and extend deadlines if they express they can not complete assignments.
I have received some feedback that students have received assignments, with an expectation to complete them, outside of school hours. Just a reminder to make sure assignments are given during school hours so that students see them.
As we are creating more documents online and using forms frequently please be conscious of some ADA guidelines. You should name your docs, forms, etc. as opposed to just sharing the link as is. Reach out to the STAT team if you need assistance on how to do this!
Attendance, attendance, attendance...I know it is difficult. Please keep up your due diligence in getting it done.
I received the email below from Great Schools Partnership. It looks like a great opportunity to share ideas and strategies with colleagues.
