 Good evening-

I hope you all had a restful weekend and enjoyed the beautiful fall weather. You deserved it after a great first week. I am grateful for the feedback and to hear from many of you that the week with students helped to ease your anxiety. I feel the same way. We have a lot of work to do in order to get hybrid learning right but we are all on the right track and doing a great job. I saw some fantastic examples of teaching, learning, and supporting students this week. Keep it up!

A few things I noticed during mask breaks. Please remind students not to share food and to be sitting at least 6 feet apart if you are stationary. The Ashland community has been informed that school grounds are off limits during school hours so please don't hesitate to tell someone that or ask one of us to come out.

Please review evacuation protocols with your classes first thing Monday morning. Remember you do not need to follow one way hallways in the event of an emergency. The class should always go to the closest exit.

Wednesday schedule:
Wednesday is our first day of combined cohort classes. All students are expected to be logged on for synchronous instruction or check-in's with their teachers. The schedule for class meetings times is:
C period- 9:30-10am
E period- 10:05-10:35am
F period- 10:40-11:10am
D period- 11:15-11:45am
Students and families have been told they can expect to have asynchronous work to complete for the remainder of the day.

Class meetings: There is just no good way to have them this year so we are going to attempt them all on Wednesday this week. Sorry for the changes as we work to figure out the best way to reach all students. If any of you want to join the meeting or have any information to share please let me know.

Please remind students to look for the email to join their class Google Classroom or use this code to join:
Class of 2021- 5drd3j6
Class of 2022- xc43dei
Class of 2023- wqza65x
Class of 2024- igf2bxo

If you have not completed the SEL survey sent out by Jen Shiels please do so ASAP. The district is looking at purchasing a program to support students and staff and your assistance in carrying it out will be needed.

Work hours: Faculty are expected to be in the building by 8:20am and until at least 2:55pm or until your professional responsibilities are met. Please do not leave campus during dismissal. This adds to our traffic congestion. We need to be a team in assisting with safe transitions.
As we look to help ease traffic congestion we may adjust the order of dismissal over the next week or two. Please encourage your students to listen to the announcements and leave the classroom when their dismissal group is called.

Meeting schedule:
Faculty meetings will be the 2nd Thursday of the month and will be held "virtually" but in the building. We will hold a vote this week for before or after school since we did not vote in the spring. The meeting will be either from 7:15-8:15am or 3-4pm. We hope we can eventually transition to in person meetings.
Our meeting schedule is as follows-
October 8
November 12
December 10
January 14
February 11
March 11
April 8
May 13
Department/curriculum meetings are the 4th Thursday of every month but departments can decide to meet on another day with at least three days notice. Liaisons should use the Department Meeting Calendar to list meeting dates.

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good afternoon- I hope you have been able to dig out from the storm. Tomorrow is sure to be a little chaotic, and I fully predict we will have students who don't understand the exam schedule changes and families who may keep their students home. We will need to be flexible! Stay warm! Here is the schedule for tomorrow:  G block exam: 10:30 am- 12 pm Lunch: 1st (12:05-12:35) - English, math, & science             2nd (12:40-1:10) - history, world language, unified arts, special education, ELL & wellness Students will need to be asked to remain in their class for first lunch and return to the class they were testing in for second lunch. We will do our best with this but are not going to stress about kids being elsewhere. We have no way of knowing how many G block students are staying for A block.  A block exam: 1:15 pm- 2:45 pm Along with the updated midyear exam schedule .  Grades for Term 2 will close on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a...
