 Good afternoon-

I hope you had a great day of professional development, planning, and meeting as departments. I appreciate the collegiality I have seen through all of this. I hope you were able to share ideas and strategies. You are all doing great things!

I am looking forward to our 2nd first day of school tomorrow. It will be great to welcome back our L-Z students.

A few reminders as we adjust to our new norms:
1. When you head outside for a mask break, please don't prop any doors open. Check that doors are closed securely when leaving the building.
2. Teachers should walk at the end of the group during the mask break so you can monitor their behavior. Please remind students to social distance when outside. When returning to the building you should wait for each student to put their mask on and hand sanitize when returning to the building. Please stand where you can see the door and make sure each student is doing this.
3. If you are going outside for a class please remember to use the Outdoor Classroom sign-up. You are welcome to take chairs from the cafeteria. When returning have students wipe their chair and re-stack them neatly.

Attendance:
As we continue to explore the best way to take attendance I will ask that you each create a form that students will complete at the beginning of each period during their remote days. We will share a spreadsheet for you to record any absent student. Please do this on a daily basis during your next prep. We will keep working to adjust this to get an accurate attendance.
Include the following on your form:
Date, Student ID, Student Name

Some of you may receive emails from nursing letting you know a student is out for an extended time. Please work with the student to determine how to best keep up with work if they are able to do so. Thanks!

IEP meeting invitations have been going out. To clarify, the MOU agreement was that you will not have more than one meeting scheduled on a Wednesday and no more than two per month on a Wednesday. Meetings will be held on all days however. As in the past coverage will be provided so you can attend. Please keep in mind that it is a legal obligation to have a regular education teacher attend IEP meetings.

We do have substitute teachers available at AHS. The district subs have all be asked to identify which building they will work in and they will only work in that building. Please remember you should have "sub" plans left in your Google Classrooms. If you are out on a Wednesday you should choose "no sub needed" in AESOP and students can access the asynchronous plan.

Since a few scenario questions were asked this week here is the updated DESE Protocols for Responding to COVID 19. These are previosuly shared guidelines that were updated on 9/14/2020. I have also linked them in the Shared AHS Re-opening Drive.

At this time 67 of our 77 teachers and 637 of the 808 students have been able to log in to eHallpass. I did some more updating tonight and hope to have added our new staff and a few of you who could not get in. Please let me know if you are still having trouble. In some cases it was just a typo with your email address. Students should be told they can not use their phone. They MUST use the Chromebook. The app is currently disabled because it doesn't support the new social distancing features such as room caps, building cap, limit location availability, and Auto Pass student start/teacher stop. They are in the process of updating the app.

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms & mother figures out there- Best of luck to the special athletes competing in the 5-Town Special Olympics today!  I apologize for the late notice, but we will do a class meeting with the juniors/prom attendees on Tuesday, May 13, and the seniors on Wednesday, May 14, during x-block. Please send your second block seniors to the auditorium, as we are not able to make announcements on 5/14.  Art Saves Ashland, which includes the student art show, as well as the Spring Choral Concert, are happening back to back on Thursday, May 15, starting at 4pm.  The concert is at 7pm in the auditorium. These events showcase the amazing talent of many of our students.  Here is the Early Release schedule for Friday, May 16. You can also find it linked on the school calendar. Good morning- I hope the adjustment to the clocks springing forward hasn't thrown you off too much. I love that it means more light in the afternoon/evening.  On Thursday, March 13 year 2/3 teachers from Milford and Nipmuc High Schools will be here for learning walks. I have shared a schedule with impacted teachers but it may change over the next few days. Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to welcome new educators.  I am sure you saw Jim's message that the School Committee will hear our proposal on Competency Determination for the Class of 2025 at their meeting on Wednesday, March 12. I hope to share an update at our faculty meeting on Thursday, March 13, after school in the library . The meeting will involve MCAS training. As you are aware, the state has moved to a new portal so it will be important information for everyone to hear. Training for staff that do not attend faculty meetings will be scheduled at another time. Following the training, we will be walking...
