Good evening!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Friday I had the pleasure of watching a few of our students record their graduation speeches for WACA-TV. I am thinking of them all and hoping they know how impressed we all are with them. It has also been a difficult few days watching the news and worrying about how many of our students are experiencing the current situation. I hope you will all join me in letting our students of color know we are here for them and are a voice for them.
We will have a faculty check-in at noon on Tuesday, June 2nd. Looking forward to seeing you then!
A reminder that students can not come to the building for anything., unless it is arranged by me. Please do not direct them to come to the office for anything.
Class of 2020 Graduation parade: Sunday, June 7 at 11am
The parade route to celebrate the class is posted below. They will leave AHS at 11am. Teachers should plan to be at AHS by 11:30 at the latest. We anticipate it will take them about 30 minutes to make the loop around town. The parade starts and finishes at AHS and we hope AHS teachers will be present to cheer on our students as they end the parade.

Grading and awarding credits for 2019-2020:
After discussion with department liaisons this past week we decided to adjust the weight of the midterm exams. They will remain at 10% of the student grade. Student transcripts for the classes of 2020-2023 will reflect the closure average or grade for Semester 1. Each term will be weighted at 45% and the midterm will be weighted at 10%. Our review of data shows that for the majority of students term grades and exam grades remain fairly consistent. All transcripts for these classes will have a note to reflect that the grade is reflective of the first semester but full credit is reflective of the student continuing to engage in learning during the pandemic.

Kudos to the Make a Wish Club who donated a whopping $15000+ to the Make a Wish organization today. I am so impressed with their commitment.
