Good afternoon from Florida-

I am sitting here physically exhausted but once again so grateful to be a part of the Make A Wish trip with our amazing students.  I just am so proud of the hard work of these students and the lessons in service and compassion they are learning.  We have amazing students!

As we get ready for the week please remember a few important things:
The Commissioner of Education will be here on Thursday, October 10 to speak to students, faculty, and others from 1-2pm. Please plan to attend the presentation if you do not have students in front of you during this time. All students will report to home room and 9th-10th grade students will attend the presentation in the auditorium. The modified schedule for the day can be found here.
Juniors and seniors will have a study hall.  They will be encouraged to reach out to teachers to get some extra help or make up any missing work if needed. If you are a junior/senior teacher this can be a trial of how X-block might work.  Please try out eHallpass to set passes for 11th & 12th grade students you need to see during the block. I'd like to see how this works!

We have a faculty meeting scheduled for Thursday. You will meet in your working groups.
I will assign locations and guiding questions by Wednesday.

Site Council:
The AHS Site Council has one open faculty position. We typically meet the 4th Wednesday of the month from 4:00-5:30pm in the main office conference room.  Please let me know if you are interested in joining this advisory group of teachers, parents, and students!

The AHS School Council is a group mandated by the MA Department of Education to assist the principal in:
1. Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards.
2. Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school.
3. Reviewing the annual school building budget.
4. Formulating a school improvement plan.
For any school that contains grades nine to twelve, the council shall review the student handbook each spring to consider changes in disciplinary policy to take effect for the following school year.

Faculty Handbook reminder (page 18):
Students who are tardy to class or study must be admitted to the room (after first period).  Students who are tardy and do not have passes should not be sent out to get a pass, but rather should be disciplined in accordance with their classroom management plan.
If a student is tardy first period that student should be sent to the office to get a tardy for the
day pass.
Thanks.

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good afternoon- I hope you have been able to dig out from the storm. Tomorrow is sure to be a little chaotic, and I fully predict we will have students who don't understand the exam schedule changes and families who may keep their students home. We will need to be flexible! Stay warm! Here is the schedule for tomorrow:  G block exam: 10:30 am- 12 pm Lunch: 1st (12:05-12:35) - English, math, & science             2nd (12:40-1:10) - history, world language, unified arts, special education, ELL & wellness Students will need to be asked to remain in their class for first lunch and return to the class they were testing in for second lunch. We will do our best with this but are not going to stress about kids being elsewhere. We have no way of knowing how many G block students are staying for A block.  A block exam: 1:15 pm- 2:45 pm Along with the updated midyear exam schedule .  Grades for Term 2 will close on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a...
