Happy Sunday!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  It was great to see many of you at Ashland Day!  I hope your groups all did well sharing their message and/or raising some funds.

I thought I shared this article a few weeks back and realized tonight that I never did.  Kudos to all of you for the part you play in making AHS a great school!

Monday is picture day. Please make sure to get your picture taken as it is needed for you ID.  We will start with freshmen when Grynn & Barrett is ready and go up from there.

Departments are scheduled to meet this week.  Every meeting this year should be focused on curriculum work (liaisons have meeting guide/focus questions). This is a Priority Area of Concern that NEASC will look at when they come this spring (the language from the report is shared below). They will look to see that we have made growth and I believe we have.  Keep up the great work you are doing.
Foundational Element 2.2a - Student Learning
Narrative
The school does not yet have a written curriculum in a consistent format for all courses in all departments across the school. The curriculum is a work in progress. The school decided to adopt the UBD model of curriculum design, but has not yet incorporated it throughout all curriculum areas and within all academic departments and individual courses.
For some courses, there appears to be no written curriculum or only the blank UBD template at this time. Forothers, the format does not yet conform to the UBD model. In some cases only individual units in a course are represented and in other instances, the curriculum does not adequately address essential questions and/or identify assessment practices. Nevertheless, the curriculum entries for some some courses, such as Psychology and Early American History, are exemplary. Some individual teachers' websites contain syllabi that augment the information in the written curriculum and complement the curriculum components that are insufficiently presented or missing.

A reminder that Thursday is Parent's Night from 6-8pm.  Parents will begin in the auditorium. Here is the schedule for the evening.  I will remind parents that it is not an evening for discussions about individual student needs and we will be around at the end to help move them along.

When you are completing any Google forms (field trips, PD, etc.) please send them to signing parties in the order requested...teacher should send to department liaison who then shares it with me.  Please do not share it directly with all parties. The liaison will share it with me once they sign it.  Make sure you make a copy of any Google documents before typing in your information so that your new information is entered on a new sheet, rather than overwriting a previous form, which may still be active. Emergency plan must be done for all field trips and should be linked to the form. You should not send it separately.  Search your Google drive for Curriculum Dept forms if you need to find the original folder. Thanks for your attention to these little details.

Please take time to review the attached PowerPoint and complete the activities included: Equity in Learning- please complete the learning activities embedded in the presentation by September 30.  Thank you!

We just received a new delivery of tissues from Decisions.  Thanks to Holly Leblanc's students for putting the STAND stickers on them.  Stop by to grab a box.

We have $200 in Barnes & Noble $5 gift cards. Each APS staff member who comes to the APL between Monday, September 23 and Friday, September 28 to shop for FREE classroom books will get a raffle ticket when they (1).png

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms & mother figures out there- Best of luck to the special athletes competing in the 5-Town Special Olympics today!  I apologize for the late notice, but we will do a class meeting with the juniors/prom attendees on Tuesday, May 13, and the seniors on Wednesday, May 14, during x-block. Good morning- I hope the adjustment to the clocks springing forward hasn't thrown you off too much. I love that it means more light in the afternoon/evening.  On Thursday, March 13 year 2/3 teachers from Milford and Nipmuc High Schools will be here for learning walks. I have shared a schedule with impacted teachers but it may change over the next few days. Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to welcome new educators.  I am sure you saw Jim's message that the School Committee will hear our proposal on Competency Determination for the Class of 2025 at their meeting on Wednesday, March 12. I hope to share an update at our faculty meeting on Thursday, March 13, after school in the library . The meeting will involve MCAS training. As you are aware, the state has moved to a new portal so it will be important information for everyone to hear. Training for staff that do not attend faculty meetings will be scheduled at another time. Following the training, we will be walking...
