Good evening/morning-
I hope this first day of school is fantastic. I am beyond excited to kick off the year with such a great group of colleagues. I thank you for your enthusiasm, participation, and conversation last week during PD. It is clear to me that we are ready to make an impact on AHS students each and every day this year. I look forward to seeing lots of relationship building tomorrow as we visit classrooms. Email me any great ideas or activities you did with students so we can pass them along! #1st3days
The Importance of Teaching Behaviors
Big Impact from the Smallest Interactions
In case you missed it Boston Magazine published their list of "Best Public High Schools in Boston" last week. I am proud of where we stand on this list and the amazing work we have accomplished. We continue to grow as a community of learners, pushing each other and most importantly the students.
As a reminder we will have a brief homeroom to hand out schedules. Stop by your mailbox to grab schedules if you have not already. Hand out the schedules when the students start arriving after the 8:10 bell and send them on their way. New students will need to be told this is the expectation.
We will continue to have students gather in the cafeteria and main/lobby areas before 8:10am. If you have a meeting scheduled with students in the morning please remind them to be courteous to other faculty members who are getting ready for the day.
Our first faculty meeting is Thursday, September 12 at 2:50pm in the library. We will have an eHallpass training during this meeting. I will share information on working groups and future meeting plans later this week.
Are you considering a book study or two as part of your professional practice goal? George Couros and Katie Novak (Asst. Superintendent of Groton-Dunstable) recently published the book "Innovate Inside the Box" and are launching a book study in mid-September. See some details below...
Let me know if you are interested by Monday, September 9 and I will purchase some copies of the book.
