Good afternoon and Happy Mother's Day!
I hope you enjoyed the beautiful sunshine yesterday and are being pampered today if you are a mom or doing some pampering for your mom.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the Academic Awards Night tomorrow at 7pm in the AHS auditorium.
Attendance data continues to be extremely concerning. Once again on Friday a student was absent but never marked that way until the end of the day. I can not stress enough that this is a professional responsibility.
Seal of bi-literacy testing:
We have about 20 students in the class of 2019 who have elected to test for the Seal of Bi-literacy. Testing will occur during this week on Monday-Wednesday but will not cause any disruption to classes. It will be exciting to see how they do!
Early Release Day Professional Development:
We will rotate through three student centered/student led presentations. Student presenters are students who are English language learners, students who identify as LGBTQ or are allies, and students of color. They will be discussing their experience as students AHS as members of these minority groups. As you can imagine, they are a little nervous but excited to have to have this opportunity. We will hear from the students who were collecting information on student voice at AHS in the fall. They are all going to prom so aren't available to join us on Friday. I hope this will a worthwhile afternoon for you to hear about these student's experiences and to reflect on what we can do to address their concerns.
