Good afternoon-
It's been a hard couple of days for us as a school community and I sit here thinking how grateful I am to work with each and every one of you. Your presence on Tuesday for Olivia's graduation was incredible. Your support for the Beaton's, the Ferrier's, and the many other students and families facing a difficult time right now leaves me truly awestruck. Thank you.
This coming week is always challenging for some of our students, this year the challenge will be there for more. We will have a couple of comfort dogs in tomorrow. Jen McMahon's Maggie will be with her for the day and School Committee member, Paul Kendall, will be bringing Macy in during the lunch block. We will have him in the lobby near the auditorium. Come by and pet a dog if you need a break. This is hard on us too and I know it's doubly tough to support students while experiencing your own grief.
PJ Ferrier's services will be as follows. Calling hours/wake will be Friday, December 21 from 2-7pm at Matarese Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 11am on Saturday, December 22nd at the Connect Community Church.
Join us in welcoming the South African students through Hammer & Chisel on Tuesday, December 18. We are once again excited to welcome 22 students and 2 teachers from South Africa for the school day. Students will spend the day shadowing our AHS students. A list of who will be hosting will be sent Monday. Thank you to Lindsay Hogan and Breaking the Barriers for organizing this visit. Please email me if you are interested in inviting one of their teachers into you classroom during the day or if you would like to attend the presentation given by the staff and students from South Africa last block on Tuesday (C block). All are welcome to hear about education in South Africa.
Be sure the ask BTB members in your classes about their day on Saturday. They had an opportunity to give back in a way that very few of us ever experience. I bet it was eye opening and life changing!

Food for thought:
Thank you for making a difference, every single day. You are so appreciated.
Because of a teacher.....
I have really enjoyed the conversation with the Innovation Team so far. Everyone is at a different place but so interested in talking and sharing. Thank you!

Absolutely incredible day with these amazing kids! So impressed by them at every step of the way. More pictures to come, but please ask these students about their experience if you get the chance!

12/21/18: Early release- the bell for winter vacation rings at 12:35pm on Friday. I hope the time off is restful and rejuvenating.
