Good evening- I hope your Thanksgiving break was restful and you had enjoyable time with family and friends.  Here comes the rush to the winter break!  Attendance requests: We continue to have many students inaccurately marked present or absent.  This is a school safety issue and we all need to work together to make sure attendance is accurate.  Please take attendance every period and do it as soon as you can first period.  If you have a student with you when the first rings first thing in the morning (making up a test, getting extra help, guidance meeting, etc.) please call the teacher on record before the bell rings so that teacher knows not to mark the student absent.  Thank you for you attention to this! As a reminder please make sure to accept or decline any IEP invitation you receive to help with coverage and attendance.  This helps us to meet coverage expectations and mandates.  We appreciate it.   For your planning purposes: Lead...

Good evening- I'm looking forward to being back at school this short week after being away for most of last week.   As we prepare for Thanksgiving I can't help but reflect on the amazing school community we are a part of.  The experience I had in Orlando with the members of the Make a Wish club volunteering at Give Kids the World was amazing.  Each year I am more and more impressed with the experience and the growth of our students is beyond impressive. On top of the service work t he kids spent a lot of time talking to chaperones about the importance of relationships with their teachers.  I am so thankful to work in a school that is supportive of these kinds of experiences for students.   They know you care and that makes them want to succeed on a variety of levels. Friday was the MIAA Sportsmanship Summit and it great to see Eryn Flynn receive her award for 2nd place in the essay contest!  I will post her essay along with an essay written by Aka...

Good evening- I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.  It was a great weekend at AHS with a fabulous performance by the AHSTS (kudos David!), the come from behind win by the football team (kudos Andrew and all!), and a fun-filled Robot Rodeo (kudos Chad!).  We have some many wonderful, diverse things going on at AHS.   Thursday is our November faculty meeting .  Members of Decisions at Every Turn will join us at the beginning of the meeting to present the results of the Positive Community Norms survey which students took back in the spring.  Following their presentation members of the Innovation Team will move to the AIC to meet.  The remainder of the meeting will be EdCamp style.  Please complete the attached form to suggest ideas or topics. We continue to see disturbing and troubling events happen in our World far too often.  The shooting at the Pittsburgh synagogue last week was another example of the hate our students are faced with eve...
