Happy Father's Day! I hope you all had a relaxing weekend.
Unfortunately, I have nothing new to report regarding Friday's incident. As I said Friday, there was no threat stated in the writing found in the boys room but because of the mention of a gun we will act with an increased level of caution for the rest of the week. Please plan to use the front and back doors only when entering and exiting the building. Our intention is to have a police officer stationed at both doors in the morning and the doors will remain locked all day. If you hear or see anything that concerns you please let us know immediately. I fully understand the anxiety this kind of situation causes each and every one of us. There isn't a day that I don't think about the issue of school safety as it pertains to AHS. If your students have questions, please remember that we are the trusted adults they look to and your behavior and response directly impacts their feeling of safety at school. Thank you for always acting in a manner that is professional and supportive.
As we get ready for the last four days of the year there is a lot to celebrate. We will provide lunch on Tuesday in the cafeteria at noon. We look forward to the Sunshine Fund dessert celebration on Wednesday. Please make sure you stop by the office to sign cards and add to the retirement gifts.
As we wrap up this week a few reminders:
Please be sure to update the missing book list and leave the final exam as a 0 if you do not receive book. Please hand calculate the correct average and include it on the spreadsheet.
Run and print a grade verification sheet once you complete your grades. If you do Pass/Fail grades please make sure the Term 4 and Final grade are entered. iPass will not run that for you. Grades will close at 10:30am on Thursday so that we can do an initial run before everyone is out of the building.
Please check that you have signed all TeachPoint documents.
Clean out the refrigerators in the teachers rooms if you use them.
Our last day of school faculty meeting Thursday morning at 7:40am. Dismissal on Thursday is at 11:20am. We will collect End of the Year sign out sheets beginning Thursday morning.
I will be out of the building beginning June 25 through the month of July but accessible by email and phone. I am looking forward to having my toes in the sand of Cape Cod bay as well as some wonderful professional development opportunities.
Thank you all for the incredible work you have done this year. The students at AHS are lucky to have each and every one of you. I feel blessed every day to work with such a dedicated group of educators. I hope each and every one of you has a summer or rest and rejuvenation.
Planning for 2018-2019:
New student orientation- August 22nd 4-6pm. The Club/Activity Fair will start at 3:45pm. Plan to have your students be there until approximately 5pm and we can include them in the scavenger hunt!
Student Leadership Summit- August 23rd 9:30am (tentative), all student leaders are encouraged to attend
Back to School Night- September 27 6-8pm (tentative)
