Good afternoon- I hope you have had a wonderful weekend!  I have been enjoying the ASCD National Conference happening in Boston this weekend, a great way re-energize as we get ready for the race to the end of the school year and think about what we do at AHS for students.   Thank goodness we avoided a snow day this past week.  Because of the days we missed this month  T erm 3 will end April 12.  Please share this with your classes.  The grading window will open at 3pm on April 12 and will close on Tuesday, April 24.  Report cards will be issued on Thursday, April 26. Recently there has been a natural increase in the discussion of school safety.  Please consider attending the student-led Courageous Conversation scheduled for Monday, April 2 at 7pm in the AHS cafeteria.   If you are concerned about about a student or have information about their safety, please seek out an administrator.  It is important that we model how to report con...

Good evening- I hope you all had a great weekend and found some time to enjoy a little Irish culture.  Let's hope this week is a full one.  It has been a tough couple of weeks with snow and other interruptions.  Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.  Because of all of the missed days we will move the end of term 3 back to April 12 (I was hesitant to pick a date until we see what this week brings.....but I am hopeful!)  The window will open at 3pm that afternoon and will close on Tuesday, April 24. Many of you have asked about Catherine Dicken.  Catherine is on an extended medical leave and will be out through April vacation.  I heard from her on Friday and she sounds like she is on the mend.  She is so appreciative of the support from her amazing department and I could not agree more.  Thank you to all the members of the math department who have come together as a team to make sure her classes keep moving forward. I spent some tim...

Good evening- I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!  I really enjoyed seeing the girls basketball team play and the AHSTS presentation of Pippin.  The girls played hard and should be proud of their season.  Pippin was a fantastic show!  The talent at AHS is outstanding. Over the course of the past week I had several student discussions about the proposed student walk-out planned for the March 14, the one month anniversary of the shooting at Stoneman Douglass High School.  We are working with students to make sure all students feel safe and respected and that any actions students may take are handled in a responsible manner. Please let me know if you intend to or wish to walk with the students.  Student safety and supervision is the priority so I hope to work collaboratively to provide coverage for students who walk as well as those who stay in the classroom.  Please do everything you can to show your support for all students.  Red Cross Blood Dr...
