Good afternoon,

I hope you've had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the snow.

I loved Paul Vieira's message this week so I am re-sharing here.  "Relating what happens in your class to the “real world” helps kids make connections between what they learn and how and when they will be able to use it. So often we hear kids say "when am I ever going to need to know this?" How can you make a real-world connection with your content this week? How can we have students see the relevance of what we are doing in their everyday lives or in a future job?" I said to a couple of different teachers this week after walk-through's that I loved how they related what they were teaching to the students lives. Keep up the great work everyone!

Thank you for supporting the PBIS team and the 1st Core Values Student Recognition Breakfast. It was a great way to honor all of the students you all nominated.

I am hearing from everyone in my Principal's job-alike about the issues they are having with vaping in their schools. A colleague recently shared this video and I wanted to pass it along. We have been lucky at AHS that we have not seen the level of in-school use that other schools have seen but we do need to educate ourselves and continue to be vigilant.

This YouTube channel was shared by a health teacher at a local high school.  It is one of 165 videos this teen has made, his video How To HIDE & HIT Your JUUL at SCHOOL WITHOUT Getting CAUGHT has 6,537,658 views.  Thought it might be a good resource for teachers.

A reminder that we have a faculty meeting this Thursday morning at 7:10am.  I will share the agenda in the next day or two.

I will be out of the building at meetings outside the district on Tuesday afternoon after about 11:30am and Friday morning.  I should be in around 10:30am.

A reminder that next week (yikes! It's coming quickly.), Friday, December 22 is an Early Release Day.  We are dismissed at 12:35pm.

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good afternoon- I hope you have been able to dig out from the storm. Tomorrow is sure to be a little chaotic, and I fully predict we will have students who don't understand the exam schedule changes and families who may keep their students home. We will need to be flexible! Stay warm! Here is the schedule for tomorrow:  G block exam: 10:30 am- 12 pm Lunch: 1st (12:05-12:35) - English, math, & science             2nd (12:40-1:10) - history, world language, unified arts, special education, ELL & wellness Students will need to be asked to remain in their class for first lunch and return to the class they were testing in for second lunch. We will do our best with this but are not going to stress about kids being elsewhere. We have no way of knowing how many G block students are staying for A block.  A block exam: 1:15 pm- 2:45 pm Along with the updated midyear exam schedule .  Grades for Term 2 will close on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, a...
