Good morning and happy last day of school for 2017! I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and a restful winter break.  Thank you for what you do for the students at AHS each and every day.  Your hard work and commitment does not go unnoticed.  This week our Wednesday question in the front hallway was "Who is someone at AHS you appreciate?  Thank them!"  I hope many of you heard some thank you's over the last couple of days.  I know the students value you as much as I do. The building is scheduled to be open next week on Tuesday through Friday from 7am-2:45pm although with the forecasted snow there may be a delay Tuesday.  The front office will be closed all week.  I will be in on Wednesday but can be reached through email all week in case of emergency. From Student Council: Thanks to everyone who came out for Clocker Idol, and congratulations to Adrianna Fawkes, our 2017 "Clocker Idol"!  The Ashland High School Council raised $1225.95, to b...

Good afternoon,  I hope you've had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the snow.   I loved Paul Vieira's message this week so I am re-sharing here.  " Relating what happens in your class to the “real world” helps kids make connections between what they learn and how and when they will be able to use it. So often we hear kids say "when am I ever going to need to know this?" How can you make a real-world connection with your content this week? How can we have students see the relevance of what we are doing in their everyday lives or in a future job?" I said to a couple of different teachers this week after walk-through's that I loved how they related what they were teaching to the students lives. Keep up the great work everyone! Thank you for supporting the PBIS team and the 1st Core Values Student Recognition Breakfast. It was a great way to honor all of the students you all nominated. I am hearing from everyone in my Principal's job-alike about the i...

Happy December! How did that happen? On behalf of the administration I want to say thank you again for everything you do and thanks for celebrating with us on Friday. I have spent the weekend reflecting on how grateful I am to work for Ashland High School and with all of you.  I am grateful to work with a community that is so committed to making sure Ashland students are ready to be young adults that make an impact on their world. Thursday, as you know, we held our first ever  Challenge Day .  I spent the day with 70 students and 18 other faculty members having fun, dancing, laughing, getting serious, shedding tears, and making plans for how to make AHS a school community that does more to accept everyone for who they are.  We talked about empathy, respect, kindness, and more.  It was a powerful day for our students and I can't wait to see what they do to keep the ripples of kindness and caring moving forward. Friday was filled with kids sharing their stories an...
