Happy Monday!

Happy Monday-

I hope you all had a wonderful long weekend filled with family and friends.  Thank you for making
Ashland such an fabulous community to work for.  I am truly grateful to work with colleagues who are caring and thoughtful.

I hope you can join us Friday afternoon around 3:30pm so we can say thank you in person!  We'll be upstairs at Owen O'Leary's welcoming in the holiday season and saying thank you to all of you.

I will send a list by the end of the day tomorrow of the students participating in Challenge Day.  Thank you for supporting this day and for recognizing it's importance.  Participating students and staff are in for a special and powerful day.  I look forward to seeing how they take what they learn and pay it forward to the whole school community.

As you review and reflect the new NEASC Standards this week in your department meetings please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.  This work and self-reflection is an important part of our growth as a school community.  I hope you use it as a tool for growth rather than feeling it is a chore.  I have attached the Self-Reflection guide here.

In case you missed it at the Thanksgiving Pep Rally we acknowledged all of the great things our clubs and teams have done to give back to the community.
We were also able to acknowledge some students for their contributions to AHS.

First, I was very proud to recognize Devin Del Campo., a member of the Class of 2018.  Last spring, after winning the state-wide and regional competitions, Devin auditioned for the National Association for Music Education's All-National Ensembles. As a result of that audition, Devin was accepted first chair tuba out of the entire country.

We also acknowledged the recipients of Term 1 Students of the Term:
Respect - Jacob Pierson
Responsibility - Matt Spielberger
Integrity - Justin Madison
Involvement - Sanjana Mandala
Achievement - Henry Mercado
These students regularly show their commitment to all of the core values and are models for the entire student body.
In order to find a way to honor all of the students who you nominated we will start a new "recognition breakfast" for all nominees. Stay tuned for details from the PBIS team.

The National Honor Society is holding a fundraiser at Chipotle at Shopper's World in Framingham on Wednesday, November 29 from 5-9 p.m.  If you purchase food there, they will give back to the NHS, which is directing all funds raised to their designated charity for this year, Community Giving Tree.  Help provided essentials for children of low-income families by making a visit to Chipotle on Nov. 29!  Be sure to get a flyer to show at the register.

Greetings --

The AHS Band is again partnering with Barnes and Noble for their annual reading of The Polar Express.  It is a fantastic evening and has been a very successful fundraiser for us.  On Friday, December 1, the students will play holiday tunes starting at 6:45 at the Framingham store.  At 7:00, one of the students will read the story to children who come out to Barnes and Noble's Friday Night Storytime.  Following this, the band will perform a medley of music from the movie and some additional holiday pieces.  Feel free to bring your small(er) children (or someone else's) for the story time -- there will be some art projects for them to do after the music has finished.  It is a really great and fun experience for kids of all ages!!

For the fundraiser:  Using our Voucher Code (Bookfair ID: 12251351), the AHS Band will receive 15-20% of all in-store purchases on December 1 (from 9am to 10 pm) and all online purchases from December 1 through December 6.  Purchases include books, magazines, magazine subscriptions, toys, stationery, nook e-reader devices, nook paraphernalia, e-books, etc.  (Unfortunately, you cannot buy a gift certificate as part of the promotion.)  In addition, M
arybeth Gallant, our librarian,
will also have a table of books that you can purchase as a donation to the AHS Library .

Thank you for participating and supporting the Ashland Music Program!!

Mr. Maule

Good afternoon- Thanks to everyone who helped to make New Student Orientation a success last night. It was great to see so many students and staff in the building. I am looking forward to seeing you all on Monday. We start at 8AM in the auditorium. There will be some members of the Class of 2026 painting their parking spots on Monday afternoon. Please try to park in the faculty parking lot or in the back of the building if you usually park in the student section.  New staff, please join the staff  Google Classroom . All information sent to faculty/staff will be housed here. The  class code is a5ca6a4. The custodians have been working hard to make sure each classroom has the correct number of desks (minus study halls). There may be a few classrooms off a desk or two based on student moves at the end of this week. If anyone has furniture in their rooms that is not being used, please let me know. We are short some L-shaped desks, under-desk file cabinets, and bookcases....

Good morning- I hope the adjustment to the clocks springing forward hasn't thrown you off too much. I love that it means more light in the afternoon/evening.  On Thursday, March 13 year 2/3 teachers from Milford and Nipmuc High Schools will be here for learning walks. I have shared a schedule with impacted teachers but it may change over the next few days. Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to welcome new educators.  I am sure you saw Jim's message that the School Committee will hear our proposal on Competency Determination for the Class of 2025 at their meeting on Wednesday, March 12. I hope to share an update at our faculty meeting on Thursday, March 13, after school in the library . The meeting will involve MCAS training. As you are aware, the state has moved to a new portal so it will be important information for everyone to hear. Training for staff that do not attend faculty meetings will be scheduled at another time. Following the training, we will be walking...
