Good evening! I read this quote tonight in a blog I follow and had to share.  What would AHS be like if we modeled learning, collaboration, exploration, etc. on a daily basis.  I highly recommend checking out George Couros when you have a chance. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I am ready for a some quiet after so many great things happening at AHS last week starting with Courageous Conversations: Love, Inclusion, Trust Tuesday night.  We were so lucky to have Jamele Adams speak to the community.  Our panelists, especially the students, shared their thoughts and opinions on diversity and inclusion at Ashland High School.  Some of their stories were powerful.  One student shared a story of a teacher questioning his friend on why he was out of school on a Jewish holiday...asking if he was really that Jewish.  We can and must make sure a story like that is NEVER repeated at AHS.  Other stories were shared of black students referred to as "...

Good afternoon- I hope you are all enjoying this amazing weather. I just came in from the soccer field and it felt like a summer day instead of October 21.  While the girls didn't win it was a great way to end a week of homecoming sports.  I am looking forward to a great dance tonight after what has been a spirited week that showcased what Ashland High School is all about.  The fun the students had this week, at lunch, sporting events, and the pep rally demonstrated that we are a welcoming, supportive school community.   Thank you for being a part of that.  You model the core values and expectations every day. The highlight of my week was the all-school presentations by Jamele Adams on Tuesday.  Tuesday night as I looked through the 437 selfies I received, I couldn't help think about what an amazing group of young adults we get to work with each and every day.   While it was a little delayed it was the perfect week to announce the Students of...

Good evening- I hope you had a wonderful weekend.  I can't get over the weather! I am so excited for this week.  Homecoming always brings so much fun and a positive energy to the building.  The addition of having Jamele Adams joining us on Tuesday is going to make it an extra special week. I hope you all get a chance to hear his message of Love-Inclusion-Trust.  I know he is going to have a positive impact on our students, and it's needed with some of the issues we have faced this fall.  It kills me to know we have kids facing antisemitism, racism, sexual harassment... and the list goes on, every day when they are just trying to learn and get ready for their future.  The fact that we have dealt with all of these issues in the front office since school has started tells me it is happening often ways we aren't aware of. I certainly don't see Jamele speaking to the students as a one time thing.  It is a part of a series of events we have planned this year...

Good evening! I hope you all had a fantastic Family Reconnect Weekend.  I had some quality time on the Cape with Anna after an exciting family outing to Friday's football game.  What a fun win that was!  As I try to figure out how to best share news and updates with you I will be sharing some of the thoughts I share in the Parent Newsletter.  I know some of you subscribe to that as well so bear with me.   The first full week of October found us settling in to the new year.  I heard from several people, both students and faculty, that it feels like the beginning of the year growing pains are done and we are in a good place as a learning community.  I have been spending my Wednesday mornings at a desk in the main hallway. Please stop by to visit if it happens to be your prep between 8:30ish and 10ish (my time is flexible).   It's been nice to chat with students as they walk by and each week I have had a question posted on an easel to help ...
