What awesome stories you all shared and the connections I saw between faculty members was incredible. Thank you for engaging in that activity! You really showed the importance of relationships in creating a great educational experience. The course recommendation window is open! Good evening- Here we go into the last week of Semester 1.  It has been a great semester.  Every day I feel so appreciative that I work with such a great staff.  Thank you.  I know the next couple of weeks are busy.  Hang in there, take some deep breaths, and ask for help if you need it! As I listened to some conversations at faculty meeting on Thursday I could tell that our faculty feels strongly about the importance of mid-term exams.  As you get ready to administer exams next week please think critically about the content of the exam and what you do with the information you gain from each test.  How is your exam preparing each student and how is it evaluating them?  I agree that exams have value, as long as we are thoughtful and purposeful. A reminder about January 18 Professional Development-  Please review the email sent by Paul Vieira so you know where to go for your sessions on Friday. The day starts at 8am.  AHS classrooms will b...

Good evening and Happy New Year! Here we are, almost halfway through the school year.  Thank you all for your commitment to AHS.  I am so privileged to work with each and every one of you and wish you the best in 2019. Mid-year exams are approaching quickly. Please review the schedule that was sent for teachers last month. Here is the modified schedule to share with students. Mid-term exams-schedule for students Attendance- As we start the new year I want to share my expectations for attendance.  Moving forward, please take attendance within the first 10 minutes of each class.  This is a professional responsibility. We have had far too many incidents this Fall in which we were not aware a student was absent until later in the day. As you can imagine, this is a safety issue and we are currently concerned about the accuracy attendance data.  We will, of course, be addressing individual concerns, but the issue is widespread so moving forward the expectation is that...
